Siyeh Glacier, Glacier National Park, Montana, 2013
from The Last Glacier series
This is remnant ice/snow on Siyeh Glacier. Apparently Siyeh is no longer considered an official glacier. After walking over a significant portion of the remnant glacier it seems strange that this is the case, as it seem far larger than the 25 acres needed to be classified as an official glacier. I will have to do more research  into what goes into a declassification. Anyone know? From a distance it is very hard to see how much ice still exists as it is mostly covered by a significant layer of rock and scree. But once you are walking on it it is very apparent that the ice is still quite thick. We encountered several crevasses that allowed us to see quite deep into the glacier.
